Ruth Welch Lofthouse Bingham

March 17, 1918 — November 3, 2005

Honeyville-Ruth Welch Lofthouse Bingham, 87, passed away peacefully to join her husband Thursday, November 3, 2005. She was born March 16, 1918 in Brigham City, Box Elder, Utah, the second child and only daughter of Charles Edwin and Rachel Welch Lofthouse.
She married Fred Alvin Bingham June 24, 1947 in the Logan LDS Temple. As a child she lived in West Point, Paradise, Randolph, Ogden, Utah and Rock Springs, Wyoming. She graduated from Weber High School and the Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital School of Nursing where she became a registered nurse. She worked as a nurse at the hospital in Payson, Utah and the Veteran's Hospital in Boise, Idaho. She served her country during WWII in the U. S. Army Nurse Corps. She served at Bushnell Army Hospital in Brigham City, Utah before being sent overseas. While overseas, she was stationed in England, France and Belgium. She was released from active duty as a First Lt. with the nurse corps in December 1945. She attended Utah State Agricultural College USU and worked at the Budge Clinic in Logan, Utah until her marriage in 1947.
She later worked at the Cooley Memorial Hospital and the Brigham City Community Hospital.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Honeyville Second Ward. She served in various church callings including Sunday School teacher, Primary worker, counselor in the Relief Society and missionary in the Foreign Name Extraction, German Program. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
She is survived by her seven children: Thomas M. Julene Bingham, Byron F. Karen Bingham, both of Honeyville, Utah; Jay C. Diane Bingham, Georgetown, Texas; Rachel Keith Holdaway, Garland, Utah; Lynn S. Terri Bingham, Boise, Idaho; Marie Bingham, Smithfield, Utah; Eva Neil Persson, Riverdale, Utah; 19 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one step great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Edwin W. Lofthouse.
The family thanks the staff at Emeritus Estates for the loving care they gave her during the time she lived there and to IHC Hospice, especially Julie Lee for her care and compassion.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 10 at 11:30 a.m. at the Honeyville LDS Chapel, 2620 West 6980 North, Honeyville. Friends and family may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9 and Thursday, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the Honeyville LDS church. Interment will be at the Honeyville Cemetery.
