Roy Charles Smith

Roy Charles Smith, 66, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at his home in Smithfield. He was born January 6, 1941 in Logan to Charles William and Lucy Petersen Smith. He was raised and educated in Cache Valley. He joined the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965 and was stationed at Austin, Texas. Upon his discharge from the Air Force, he was employed in union road construction and later as a truck driver until his health declined. His hobby and passion was guns, but he also enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting and being outdoors. Although he never married, he loved and enjoyed his many nieces and nephews as if they were his own children. Roy is survived by his sister, Esther Greg Schenk, Richmond and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Stephen James Smith; Cleve William Smith; and one nephew, Lucas Schenk. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2007 at the Hyde Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan from 1:00 to 2:15 p.m. prior to service. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
