Ross Nuttall Jenkins

Ross Nuttall Jenkins, 96, passed away peacefully at his home in River Heights on May 21, 2006. Ross was born in Newton, Utah February 11, 1910, a son of Moroni Benson Jenkins and Alice Nuttall Jenkins. He was educated in the Cache County School District. Ross spent his early years in Newton helping his father with the family farm. After high school, he married his lifelong sweetheart, Lorus Hancey Jenkins on June 12, 1934 in Pocatello, Idaho, later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Ross and Lorus had two children: Jean Jenkins, River Heights and Arthur Art Jenkins, Smithfield. Ross had 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Ross made his home in Newton and was employed for many years by the Union Pacific Railroad. He worked a short time with his brother, Evan, in Caliente, Nevada, and a brother-in-law, Orlo Hancey in Astoria, Oregon. In 1965 Ross purchased a home in River Heights. He then worked as a painter, decorator in Cache Valley and in maintenance at E.A. Miller?s Beef in Hyrum, Utah. Ross was blessed with excellent health. During his 96 plus years, he spent only one night in a hospital and he never took any medication, except for some pain medication at times. Ross was preceded in death by his wife, Lorus; his parents; brothers: Stanley infant, Evan M. Jenkins, Arnold Colin Jenkins; a sister: Peral Jenkins Thomas; a granddaughter, Trudy Johnson; and a grandson, Brent D. Jenkins. He is survived by his two children; a brother, Mark N. Jenkins of Sunset, Utah; two grandsons: David Jenkins and Michael Jenkins and their families who doted on Grandpa Ross; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. A graveside service will be held at the Newton Cemetery Friday, May 26, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. A viewing will be held at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan, Utah from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to services.
