Ronald Oreon DeMille SMITHFIELD – Ronald Oreon DeMille, 80, passed away from incidents of age at Sunshine Terrace, on Tuesday, October 9, 2012. Ron was born August 20, 1932, in Rockville, Utah, a son of Alvin & Estelle DeMille. He married Carole Hillyard on May 19, 1961 in the Logan LDS Temple. Ron spent his younger years in Rockville and Parowan working on the family farm, where he learned the value of hard work at a young age. He graduated from Parowan High School and then enlisted in the Air Force, where he served for 4 years as an x-ray technician. During the Korean War, he was deployed to Evreux, France for one year while in the service. Ron worked at the USU Bookstore for 31 years, while there he held several positions and loved his coworkers as well as the students. Ron enjoyed reading and was also a talented artist. Several of his paintings hung proudly in his home. He loved to plant flowers in his yard and was known for his flower bed in the shape of a real bed where he would plant the flowers to look like a blanket and pillows. Ron is survived by his son, Clay Elise, daughter, Mary, grandchildren, Wesley, Conner & Courtney, and great-granddaughter Lilly, brothers, Carroll B. Annette DeMille, Lloyd Woodine DeMille and Mayo M. Janice DeMille. He was preceded in death by his parents and dear wife Carole. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 in the Smithfield 1st Ward Chapel, 79 E. 200 S., Smithfield. A viewing will be held on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield and on Saturday from 10:30-11:30 at the Smithfield 2nd Ward.
