Roma Adeline Pilkington Low

June 25, 1915 — January 2, 2003

Smithfield ? Roma Pilkington Low passed away January 2, 2003 following a lengthy illness. She was born June 25, 1915 the oldest child of Leland Farrell and Elsie Shilvock Pilkington in Smithfield, Utah. She grew up in Smithfield, attended elementary and Junior High School in Smithfield and graduated from North Cache High School in Richmond, Utah. On December 7, 1932 she married her best friend and eternal companion, S. Clinton Low in the Logan LDS Temple. Clint and Roma made their home and raised their family and lived their entire life in Smithfield. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in all the church auxiliaries on both the Ward and Stake levels. She loved the youth of the church and was happy when her calling was with the youth. She served in the Relief Society and was a visiting teacher for over 60 years, a calling she truly loved. She spent a lot of her time in service to the community, as she and Clint were active members of the Lions Club and the Lady Lions. She spent many a summer night in the Lions? stand at the Smithfield Blue Sox Park and loved to get involved with the sport of baseball. She was a charter member of the Book Laree Literary Club and was an avid supporter of Smithfield?s annual ?Health Days? celebration, building many floats and dance costumes. Roma was an exemplary homemaker and mother. She was employed at the William Budge Hospital, Smithfield Clinic, Gephart?s Dry Goods Store and she retired from Summit Elementary School as a reading specialist. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Dale Nielsen, Smithfield; sons, Rodney C Peggy Rhodes Low, North Logan and Randall J Suzette Chambers Low, Smithfield; 9 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton, a son Ted Farrell and a granddaughter, Jennifer Low, also her parents. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 4, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in the Smithfield Second Ward Building, 175 South 100 West, Smithfield. Friends and family may call on Friday evening, January 3, 2003 at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday morning one hour prior to funeral services.
