Smithfield, Utah ? Our loving father and grandfather, Roger William Petersen, returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday March 10, 2002, at Logan Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Roger was born September 18, 1924, in Benson, Utah. He is the son of Leonora Rogers and Willi James Petersen. On October 25, 1944 he married Lois Allsop in the Logan LDS Temple. They celebrated their 57th anniversary before his death. Roger was a farmer in Benson for 45 years and then became a salesman. He was a home teacher, high priest and young mens M.I.A. counselor in the Benson Ward. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and going camping in Yellowstone with his family. Roger was always willing to help when anyone was in need. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lois Petersen of Smithfield; two sons, and a daughter and 11wonderful grandchildren. John Toni Petersen, Benson; Charlot Murray Archibald, Mendon; Tom Stacy Petersen, Hyrum; Five sisters: Wanda Pedersen George, deceased; Velda Fife Paul; Valene DeCaro John, deceased; Shirley Anderson Arial; and Lenora Thompson. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Dora Jones. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 14, 2002 at 12:00 noon at the Smithfield 8th Ward Chapel, 155 West 400 North. The family will receive friends at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan, on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com . We love him very much and he will be greatly missed.
