Robert Olif Cronquist, Sr. Ollie passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends on Monday, November 26, 2007. Ollie was born March 22, 1916 in Benson, Utah to Orson Heber and Idella Nyman Cronquist. He met his life-long companion and sweetheart, Wilda Richards, and married her January 19, 1938. Later their marriage was sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS Temple on November 13, 2002. Ollie is the proud father of five children: Robert O. Cronquist, Jr. Sylvia, Smithfield, Utah; Sonja Andersen Sherman, Hyrum, Utah; Terry Cronquist Ronda, Smithfield, Utah; Kim Cronquist Bernie, Smithfield, Utah; and Shauna Twitchell, Smithfield, Utah. He has 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Ollie has farmed all of his life and also worked with the Utah State Road Department doing snow removal in the Logan Canyon. He originated and was president of the Skyline Cutter Racing Association and was president of the Summit Saddlers Club for many years. He has enjoyed racing horses in Utah, Idaho, Arizona and Wyoming throughout his lifetime. Hunting, fishing and camping were some of the many pastimes he enjoyed with his family. He was always a hard worker with a positive attitude. He was a great role model and leaves behind many examples of what family means. He loved his children and grandchildren very much and was extremely proud of every one of them. Grandpa?s house was the place for ice cream cones. Sometimes the children were seen leaving with one in each hand. He loved visiting with his grandchildren and watching them play. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the Smithfield 7th Ward Chapel, 79 East 200 South, Smithfield. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield and Saturday morning at the church from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to services.
