Robert Maes Barrera, 48, passed away from injuries sustained in a four wheeler accident on July 16, 2010. He was born to Martin and Charlet Barrera in Logan, Utah on June 6, 1962.
Robert worked as a heating and air specialist for most of his life. He was currently employed by Western Mechanical. He also did various side jobs. He was known as dealing and a wheeling kind of guy. He was very out going, fun to be around humorous person. He was also known to many people as very kind and generous. He literally gave you the shirt off his back if need be. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved playing sports especially softball, golfing and bowling.
Robert fathered a set of twin girls, Terry and Theresa Barrera and a loving granddaughter Mia Barrera, but was a father figure to many, in particular, Colton, Braxton and Tasha Spackman. Robert loved them as his own and they loved him in return. They viewed him as a father.
He is survived by his parents, children and granddaughter. He is also survived by his sisters and brother: Annie Steve Jardine; Yolanda Barry Hidalgo; Martin Darla Barrera Jr. and Sylvia Barrera.
A vigil will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 6 to 7 p.m. followed by a viewing from 7 to 8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 725 South 250 West. Hyde Park, Utah. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery.
