Rita Ann Hammond Hansen

August 12, 1933 — March 7, 2005

Bear River City - Rita Ann Hammond Hansen, 71, passed away at the Brigham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brigham City on March 7, 2005. She was born on August 12, 1933 to Grant Levi and O'Reta Otterbeck Hammond. Rita met her sweetheart, Collin L. "Bud" Hansen, at a New Year's dance in Hyrum. They were married on May 28, 1955 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on July 12, 1963. Rita was reared and educated in Providence and graduated from South Cache High School. She enjoyed all sports especially softball. She was an avid supporter of the Utah Jazz and the Denver Broncos. She was a meticulous homemaker and enjoyed watching her grandson, A.J., play baseball. Her family meant the world to her. She was a member of the Bear River First Ward. Surviving are her husband; one son, Alan L. Hansen of Bear River City; one grandson, Alan "A.J." L. Hansen, Jr. of Bear River City; one sister, Colleen Hicken of Ogden and one sister-in-law, Linda Johnston of Clearfield. Rita is preceded in death by her parents and one brother Reed Grant Hammond. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 11, 2005 at 12:30 p.m. at the Bear River City Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Thursday, March 10, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home located at 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and also on Friday morning from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home.
