Richard Thayne Oyler

Tremonton, UT – Richard Thayne Oyler, 76, passed away Monday, December 29, 2008. He was born July 3, 1932 in East Garland, UT to Leo and Lodema "Loda" Isaacson Oyler. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He married Arlene Dunn February 16, 1953 in Brigham City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in 1968. Richard was reared and educated in the Bear River Valley graduating from Bear River High School. He owned and operated Oyler & Sons Construction in Tremonton and the family farm in Bothwell. He enjoyed making inlaid wood boxes which he gave to anyone that wanted one. He loved to watch the kids and grandkids ballgames. He was always at his kid's scouting activities.
He was an active member of the Tremonton 6th Ward and was a 100% home teacher.
Surviving are his wife; children: Krys Thayne and Keven D. Jill Oyler; six grandchildren and eight great-granddaughters. Also surviving are his sisters, Gwen Mariner Ballard and a former sister-in-law, Bernice Beck.
Preceding Thayne in death are one son, Brett Oyler; his parents; two brothers: Reid L. and Vern O. Oyler; sisters: Rita Holdaway and Leone Hatch.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton Stake Center, 660 North 300 East, Tremonton with Bishop Michael Bowcutt officiating. Family and friends may call from 6:00–8:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2009 at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Saturday from 9:30–10:40 a.m. at the church. Interment will be held at the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
