Richard Chad Crockett

May 31, 1966 — September 18, 2008

My cherished husband and best friend, Richard Chad Crockett, age 42, unexpectedly passed from this life, Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008. I will miss him immensely, as will those who called him dad, pocka grandpa, son, grandson, brother, uncle or friend. Chad was born May 31, 1966, in Logan, Utah to Royal Abraham Crockett Jr. and Rebecca Ann Pitcher. Growing up in Cache Valley, he attended Logan City Schools, Sky View High School and Cache High. He married the love of his life, Cheray Phillips Vollmer, on May 2, 1996. They did everything together and were pretty much inseparable. They especially enjoyed going camping together, going boating, or going fishing. Chad truly loved the peacefulness of the outdoors. He also loved helping others. He would never pass anyone stranded along the roadside without stopping to lend a helping hand. Friends and family knew if they ever needed anything, they could count on Chad. He was also very mechanical and enjoyed tinkering on cars. If he wasn't fixing a vehicle for someone else, you could be sure he had a project of his own in the garage to keep him busy. He lived much of his life in Cache Valley, where he worked for several different businesses such as Cache Valley Dairy, ICON, Weathershield, and A & R Fabrication. Chad is survived by his wife of 12 years, Cheray; his children, Jaquelyn Crockett of Ogden, Kade Krystale Vollmer of Logan, and Scott Vollmer of Logan; his grandson, Taylor Vollmer; his mother, Rebecca Ann Neilson of Logan; his grandmother, Donna Lou Pitcher of Smithfield, his brother, Lance Susan Crockett of Hyrum; his half-brothers and sisters, Zayne, Chris, Andy, Colby and Jammie; and many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Royal A. Crockett II and Richard Pitcher; his grandmother, Bertha Crockett; and his father, Royal A. Crockett Jr. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at the Smithfield City Cemetery. A viewing will be held for friends and family from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, Sept. 22, 2008 and Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North in Logan. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
