Richard C. Clawson

January 13, 1946 — March 14, 2004

Richard Clawson, 58, died on March 14, 2004 at a Salt Lake City Hospital, following a long struggle with cancer. He was born to Carl and Bernice Deppe Clawson on January 13, 1946; their only child. Richard was devoted to two widows: his mother and grandmother, LaVina C. Deppe, who lived next door, and he cared for both yards for many years. Richard served in Vietnam in the Army, finishing as a Staff Sergeant. He graduated from USU in Commercial Art and worked for USU for most of his career. Richard was dedicated to Scouting and was a Scout Master, enjoying many outings and camps with the scouts. He was also involved with the Mountain Men, attending several rendezvous. Richard is survived by an aunt: Mavis Deppe Bodrero; an uncle: Hazen Beverly Deppe of Taylorsville, Utah and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, both parents and an uncle, Earl Bodrero. Under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home, a graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m on Saturday, March 20, 2004. at the Logan City Cemetery south side with Bishop Kevin Moser conducting and military honors presented by the Logan American Legion Post 7. The Smithfield 4th Ward Relief Society will furnish a luncheon at 155 West 400 North following the service. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
