Rex Reese Funk, of Lancaster, California, returned to be with his Heavenly Father on November 2, 2005, at the age of 87. Rex was born in Benson, Utah to Walter Angus and Sarah Funk on May 29, 1918. He married Chloe Christensen June 19, 1940, in Logan, Utah. They moved to California in 1941, where he worked in the aerospace business, branch manager of Lancaster Shepherd Tractor and ISLO Machinery in Action. He graduated from Utah State University, taught at the agricultural department of Antelope Valley College and was an avid pilot. He was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he held a multitude of callings including Bishop of the Quartz Hill Ward. He served as a full time missionary in France in the 1940?s and in the West Indies in the 1990?s. He loved his family and friends. He will forever remain in the hearts of the loved ones he leaves behind. He was preceded in by his beloved first wife Chloe Funk, his parents, and brother, Norman Funk. He leaves behind his wife Toyita of 21 years; one son, Bruce of Reno, Nevada, three daughters; Chloe Ann Eaton of Lincoln, Neb; Beverly Jean Stine of LaVerne, CA, and Janeene Halle Slack of Sacramento, CA. Also survived by two stepchildren, Vicky Floyd of Palmdale, CA and Robert E. Alvarado of Lancaster, CA; one brother, Dennis Rebecca Funk, of Hyde Park, UT; and two sisters, Viva Burrie, of Malad, ID, and Loila Desmond Anderson, of Logan, UT. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2005, at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services.
