Reta Mae Hansen Raymond, age 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2008 surrounded by family. She was born March 6, 1914 in Logan, Utah to Moroni and Nora Mae Hansen. Reta lived her entire life in Logan except for a few years during World War II, where she accompanied her husband to his army duty stations in the states. Reta was educated in the Logan City Schools and attended Utah State Agriculture College. She married G. Frank Raymond in the Logan LDS Temple on June 18, 1935. She is survived by a son, Lanny Raymond wife, Linda and a daughter Carol Raymond Koerner husband, Karl Koerner. Another son, Conley Raymond wife, Kathleen Bosworth was killed in 1969. Reta is survived by two brothers: LaVon Hansen Evelyn, Glen Hansen Martha, and one sister, Venice Smith. Reta has twelve grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren. Reta is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers Luzon, Merland and Gerald a son, Conley and one grandson, Matthew. Reta has always been active in the LDS Church serving in various stake and ward positions. She worked in the Logan LDS Temple for over 20 years. Reta also served in school PTA presidencies as well as on the city level. In addition she served in the presidency of the Logan Lady Lions. When Reta was widowed 45 years ago, she threw herself into helping and supporting her children and grandchildren, as well as working for the Logan School District for many years. She also worked for Everton Publishing company. After her retirement, Reta could often be found visiting friends and acquaintances in the Sunshine Terrace or in their homes to cheer them up. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan. Friends and family may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com . The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Logan Regional Hospital and Sunshine Terrace for their highly professional and loving care of Reta. Reta has left her family and friends with many precious memories and a wonderful legacy. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
