Reta Cooley Cantwell, 92, of Smithfield, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at home of incidents related to age. Reta was born December 19, 1915 in Newton, Utah to Walter A. and Edith Rigby Cooley. She lived her life in Newton and attended North Cache High School. On May 20, 1933, she married Lawrence S. Cantwell of Smithfield. Their marriage was sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on September 26, 1934. They recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. Reta was given the special name of "Queenie" by her husband early in their marriage, and she was lovingly known by that name in the family. She was an active, busy person with talents in many directions. She held several positions in the church and especially loved the MIA and Relief Society organizations. She served as Ward Relief Society President for many years and gave years of service wherever she was needed. She also served in the Stake Relief Society Presidency. Reta loved to knit and crochet. She made fur throws for everyone in the family. She was an avid Blue Sox fan, attending every game until her health prevented it. She never missed watching the Jazz games. Right up to her death, she wanted to know if it wasn't soon time for the season to start. Reta is survived by her husband, Lawrence and her children: Beth Jerry Henrichsen, Carol Faye Boyd Rigby, Karen Gee Cantwell Blass, Nancy Cantwell, Kristy Cantwell Wiser, 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, her brother, Lyle Cooley and his wife Charlotte of Newton, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Larry, her brother LeRoy and his wife Wilma, her sister Sara Edgel and husband John, her sister Viola Larsen and husband Ed, and her sister-in-law Donna Cooley. The family expresses their appreciation to Legacy Home Health Care, Hospice, Delene, Royella, Jan and Katie for the wonderful care they extended to our mother and the many kindnesses shown to our family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the Smithfield Tenth Ward Chapel, 345 East 300 South, with Bishop Peter Krusi conducting. Friends and family may call at the church from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Smithfield Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at
