Renee Plowman Swanson

July 4, 1926 — April 6, 2016

Renee Plowman Swanson passed peacefully April 6, 2016, a few months short of her 90th birthday. She was born July 4, 1926 to Ronald Oliver and Cynthia LaRue Plowman. Renee was raised on a Dairy Farm in Smithfield, Utah in a loving, hardworking family.

Renee graduated from North Cache High School in 1944 at which time she said, “I am not going to thin beets anymore, I am going to get a job.” She did office work at the Army Depot in Ogden before attending college. She married Buford Swanson Jr. in 1948 and spent the rest of her life in Hyrum. Besides raising kids, she worked many years for Cache Valley Select Sires. She loved attending church and going to the Hyrum Senior Center for lunch and bingo with her friends. She was also an avid NBA Jazz fan.

Renee is survived by two brothers, Dean Plowman of North Logan and John (LaDene) Plowman of Brigham City and a sister-in-law, Rella Sherrill of West Jordan, UT. Children; Rhonda (Brian) Anderson of Nibley, Scott (Karen) Swanson of Orting, Washington, Gary (Janiel) Swanson of North Logan and Susan (Dave) Corless of Logan, 15 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren with another on the way.

The family would like to thank the health care workers at Logan Regional Hospital and Sunshine Terrace Rehab for their efforts and kindness in recent days.

Both the viewing and funeral will be held Monday, April 11th at the Hyrum 11th Ward Chapel, 595 South 200 East. The viewing will be from 9:30 - 10:30 am, followed by the funeral at 11 am. Interment will follow at Hyrum City Cemetery.
