Reed Holman Godfrey

Reed H. Godfrey, 77 passed from this life, December 13, 2011 in Logan Utah. It will be a happy reunion with his parents and many loved ones. He is now free from his many health problems.
Reed was born November 5, 1934 in Logan, Utah to Seth and Mabel Godfrey. He was the youngest of four children. He was raised in Smithfield, Utah and graduated from North Cache High School. He joined the army in 1953, and was honorably discharged in 1955. Reed married his best friend Anna LeFevre in the Logan Temple in 1958. They were blessed with one daughter, Susan Godfrey Hyer.
He worked for Mountain States Telephone & Telegraph as a telephone technician for 35 years.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served many callings, but especially enjoyed being the Young Men's President, and serving in the 3rd Ward Bishopric.
He and his wife served two church missions at Deseret Industries, and at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and spending time with his family and boys, who were the light of his life. He had many friendships that lasted his lifetime, especially camping and traveling together with the Rolling Phones, and the winters they spent in Arizona.
He is survived by his wife Anna, daughter Susan Zane Hyer of Smithfield, three grandsons Cody, Randy Whitney, and Jesse Kristin Hyer, and five great grandchildren, Riley, Mason, Averie, Cash, and Parker, sister Joyce George Atwood, and brother Gerald Lynn Godfrey. He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant sister Dorothy Mae.
Thanks to the special people who cared for him the past few weeks.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 17th at noon in the Smithfield 11th Ward Church House located at 79 E 200 S with Bishop Mike Law conducting. Friends may call at the Nelson Funeral Home in Smithfield on Friday December 16 from 6-8pm, and Saturday at the 11th Ward from 10:30-11:30am. Burial will be in the Logan Cemetery.
