Raymond Noble Hansen

December 4, 1919 — July 22, 2010

Elwood, UT–Raymond Noble Hansen, 90, of Elwood passed away Thursday, July 22, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was born December 4, 1919 on his family's farm north of Bear River City to Mads Frederik and Bertha Louise Johnsen Hansen. He graduated from Bear River High School in 1939, and then attended Weber College. He enlisted in the Coast Guard during WWII, where he was stationed in Hawaii and Seattle, WA. It was while in Seattle that he met his wife of 65 years, Lily Bernice Wahl. They were married in the Logan Temple July 13, 1945. After the war, Raymond and Lily built their home in Elwood. Raymond farmed, drove school bus and worked as a carpenter for the Box Elder County School District until retiring in 1985.He loved to fish, camp, and hike with his family. He was a wonderful carpenter and enjoyed making furniture and children's toys in his shop at home. He also liked to garden and planted a big vegetable garden every year. He was never idle, always working and playing hard. He loved music and was always singing and whistling wherever he went. Raymond was a faithful member of the Tremonton 3rd Ward where he served as Bishop from 1990-1995 and held numerous other positions. He served as scoutmaster for many years, for which he received the Golden Spike District Award of Merit in 1967. And the Silver Beaver Award in March of 2010 He is survived by his wife Lily, his sons, Lorin Mayela, Craig, DeVere Kris, Thad Lisa, Daryl Julianne and Bert Glenda, and his daughters, Maralee Lex Anderson, Lynae David Winkler, and Joan Aaron Whitaker, 34 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister and brother in law, Norma Frank Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents and ten older sisters and brothers. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 26, 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton 3rd LDS Ward, 9590 N. 6800 W., Tremonton with Bishop Norman Fukui, officiating. Friends may call at the church from 9:00-10:40 a.m. Interment will be in the Elwood Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
