Raymond Franklin Crowther Tremonton: Our country is in mourning, an old soldier died today. Raymond Franklin Crowther, 87, died March 12, 2003, at the Bear River Valley Care Center. He was the son of Richard Franklin and Annie Jorgensen Crowther born on September 11, 1915, in Bear River City, Utah. He was the fifth child of a family of six. He attended school at Bear River Elementary and Bear River High School. He married Ruby Gwendolyn Sparks on June 23, 1969. She passed away January 4, 1990. Ray was drafted while in High School to serve his country valiantly in World War II. After the war, he worked for the railroad on the lines running between the Idaho border and Corinne. When Thiokol was built, Ray was hired in Transportation and retired from Thiokol after many years of service. Ray is survived by his nieces and nephews who called him Grandpa, Dave and Dot Conger, David and Tiffany Conger, Dane Ray Conger, James and Darlene Hess, Mike and Wendy King, Jim and Kathleen Hess, Robert and Tanya Stephensen, Kim and Jane Sparks, Mindy Ford, and Kari Sparks and sisters-in-law Maurine Brown of Logan and Vella Sparks Preece of Preston. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Florence Annie Rasmussen, Leola, Elda, Virgil and Baby Crowther and niece, Taylie Lynne Conger. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home 111 North 100 East, Tremonton. Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Bear River City Cemetery with Military Honors.
