Tremonton, UT - Ray Erwin Kraus, 75, passed away Monday, February 2, 2009. He was born February 23, 1933 to Arnold and Hermana J. Kraus in Logan, UT. Ray served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He married Sharon Smith in 1956 divorced. Ray married Judith Ann Simanek September 2, 1966.
He worked at Jetway Systems in Ogden, UT for 36 years as a certified welder. After living in Perry, UT for nine years, Ray and Judy moved their family to Deweyville, UT in 1976. Ray enjoyed working on cars, raising a garden and fishing. His hobby during the winter months was building model cars and boats. Ray was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed working on volunteer service projects.
Ray is survived by his wife, Judy and six children: Ricky, Tina, Bennie, Thomas Louise, Arnold Kristal and Lee Shauna; 15 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, three sisters and one brother. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Deweyville-Riverview LDS church, 10750 N Highway 38, Deweyville, UT with Bishop Michael Yates officiating. Family and friends may call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. No flowers please. The family suggests donations be made to the Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. Interment in the Deweyville Cemetery with military honors.
