Phyllis June Thomas Larsen

September 9, 1916 — January 21, 2008

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Phyllis, passed away peacefully in the Bear River Valley Care Center Monday, January 21, 2008. She will be greatly missed by the many that knew and loved her.
Phyllis was born in North Ogden, Utah September 9, 1916 to Thomas Thomas and Ellen Eliza Wickens and was the youngest of ten children. May 24, 1933 she married Elmer Ernest Larsen in Logan, Utah where their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They then settled in Garland and Tremonton where she and Elmer raised their family.
Phyllis was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life, and held various teaching callings in the Primary and Sunday School. But most of all, Phyllis loved being with her family. It was obvious that her face was most radiant when her children and grandchildren dropped by for a visit, and none of them ever left without a warm hug. She gave birth to ten children and raised nine of them to adulthood. Phyllis also had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren. She was loved and revered for the wonderful loving person she was to them all.
Phyllis worked for 25 years as a nurse’s aid at the Bear River Valley Hospital where she was frequently acknowledged for her compassionate care to the afflicted. Phyllis was also known for her wonderful sense of humor. She had a ready smile and joyous laugh that always put others around her at ease.
Surviving are her children Marian Robert Boyington, Las Vegas, NV, Paul Sue T. Larsen, Bryan Emma Jean Larsen, both of Tremonton, Janice Joseph Clare, Danville, CA, Gail Bill Bishop, Garland, Karen Tim Burnett, Layton, Reid Lori T. Larsen, Evanston, WY, Brad T. Larsen, Salt Lake City and Chris Debbie T. Larsen, Layton.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her nine brothers and sisters, her husband, Elmer, and her first child, Gerald Thomas Larsen who passed away a few days after birth.
Her family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Bear River Valley Care Center and Dr. Rodney Merrell for the loving care that they rendered to her the many years she was there.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, January 24, 2008, at Tremonton 6th Ward Church, 660 North 300 East, Tremonton, Utah. Friends may call at the Church prior to the services from 10:00–11:30 a.m. Interment at Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
