Phyllis Christensen

Phyllis Christensen, 93, passed away peacefully of natural causes February 26, 2004 in Meridian Idaho. Phyllis was born March 3, 1910 in Robin, Idaho, the eldest child of Alvin James Christensen and Clara Amelia Jenkins. She was educated in Arimo, Idaho. She received a bachelor of education degree from Brigham Young University. She taught school in Emery County, Utah, Arimo, Idaho, Garland, Utah and Tremonton, Utah. Phyllis had a great love for children and children were drawn to her. Many former students continued to stay in touch with her through visits and letters.
Her early years were spent on a farm in Robin, Idaho where she learned early responsibility by helping her widowed mother care for her brother and sisters. Her playground was the hills above her home. She loved the outdoors and had a fascination and love of all growing things.
In 1946 she moved with her mother to Tremonton, Utah where she remained until she could no longer care for herself and had to move to assisted living. Her home in Tremonton was always open to family and friends, where weary travelers and visitors could always be assured of a delicious meal or fresh baked bread and cookies.
Phyllis was a life long member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities. Her greatest love was genealogy. She was the first director of the Bear River Stake Extraction Center, serving there for many years. She was the family historian and record keeper, keeping and maintaining records for each of her nieces and nephews.
Her many interests and talents included writing family histories, writing stories for children and writing poetry, photography, sewing, crocheting, embroidery, reading, gardening, cooking, astrology, nature, animals and bird watching.
Phyllis is survived by her sister, Rhoda Robison, Salt Lake City, Utah, and the following nieces and nephews: Larry Jana Pulsipher, Nibley, Utah, Shauna Max Wilkinson currently serving in the Guam, Micronesia Mission, Tamara David Rogers, River Heights, Utah, Pamala Hal Hess, Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Brent Carolyln Pulsipher, Appleton, Wisconsin, Nanette Blaine Mecham, Meridian, Idaho, Philip Mickie Pulsipher, currently serving as Mission President in Guam, Micronesia Mission. Berne Pulsipher, Bountiful, Utah, Donald Kathy Robison, Salt Lake City, Utah, Janet Rod Tucker, So. Weber, Utah, Michael Robison, Centerville, Utah, Gary Vickie Pulsipher, Columbus, Nebraska, and her step-family, Steven Mary Larsen, Indianapolis, Indiana, Brent Carol Larsen, Promontory, Utah and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Richard and Gesford Christensen, sister, Georgia Pulsipher, and nephew Collier Robison, and step-niece, Judy Larsen.
The family extends special thanks to the staff at "Almost Home" in Meridian, Idaho for their loving and tender care of Phyllis for the last four months.
A viewing will be held Saturday, March 6, 2004, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home located at 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, Utah. Her funeral will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, March 6, 2004 at the Tremonton 1st Ward Church located at 166 North Tremont Street, Tremonton. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Tremonton.
