Florence, Montana - Oscar Stern Lind, 82, passed away at home after a long illness May 3, 2008.
Oscar was born the oldest child of Philbert C. and Cora Toyn Lind, October 21, 1925 in Oakley, Idaho. He graduated from Box Elder High School in Brigham City, Utah. He served in the Army in the Philippines and Japan during WWII.
He married Kathryn Anderson, September 30, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple. He was the father of six children. They spent their early married years in Bothwell, Utah where he farmed and worked for Safeway Stores and Thiokol Chemical Company. They moved to Montana in 1964 where he developed small businesses including grocery stores in Polson and Lolo. He also founded Servpro Cleaning Company. In his later years he was employed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was a lifelong member of the Church and served faithfully in many callings including that of Bishop. He and his wife served a mission to the Atlanta Georgia Temple and worked as ordinance workers in the Spokane Temple.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two granddaughters.
He is survived by his wife, children, Tom Judy of Beaver Tail, Vicki Lee Janetski of Great Falls, Nancy Paul Weiser of Logan, UT, Susan Ian Earl of Helena, David Bonnie of Sperry, OK, and Corey Lori of Florence; 26 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren; siblings Dwain Margene, View , ID Douglas Carol, Declo, ID Marvel Junelle, Heyburn, ID Ellen Hyrum Olsen, Providence, UT Virgene Denton Darrington, Declo and brother-in-law Willard Virginia Anderson of Stevensville and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at 11:00 at the Lolo Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; visitation will begin at the church at 9:30. A second service will be held Friday, May 9 with a vieiwing beginning at 9:30 am and funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. at the Bothwell, Utah LDS church. Internment will occur Friday, May 9, 2008 following the funeral service at Valley View Cemetery in Bothwell, Utah.
