Oscar Bryan Blanthorn

Tremonton, UT ? Oscar Bryan Blanthorn, 87, after kind of a bumpy ride, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2007 at home. He was born December 29, 1919 in Grouse Creek, UT to George Kid and Emma Lucas Blanthorn. He married Afton Pasket August 27, 1938 in Twin Falls, ID. They later divorced. He married Barbara Jane ?Bobbie? Archibald April 24, 1961 in Ely, NV. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple September 22, 1965.
He was reared and educated in Grouse Creek and attended Box Elder High School. He worked for Union Pacific Rail Road. He was a selective volunteer for the U. S. Navy in WWII. He is a survivor of the sinking of the USS Indianapolis. He was also a government trapper. He owned and operated his ranch in Grouse Creek and also managed JR Simplot?s Grouse Creek Ranch for 16 years. He was the world?s best dancer.
He had been a member of the Grouse Creek Ward and of the Tremonton Sixth Ward since November 12, 2004. He served in various church positions.
Surviving are his wife, Bobbie of Tremonton; five sons and two daughters: Patricia Eddie Welch, San Diego, CA; Peggy John Hoffman, Tremonton, UT; Dale Sharon Blanthorn, Breneau, ID; Paul Leona Blanthorn, Fairview, UT; Bruce Blanthorn, Kingston, UT; Sam Tawni Blanthorn, Grouse Creek, UT; Corie Cristy Blanthorn, Gillette, WY; a step-daughter, Janet Blanthorn, Boise, ID; 24 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; brothers: Chester Betty Blanthorn, Orem, UT and Boyd Oueida Blanthorn, Stansbury Park, UT.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, George Lloyd Blanthorn; one granddaughter, Melika Blanthorn; sisters: Barbara Kubiak and Wanda Blanthorn.
A viewing will be Monday, July 9, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Grouse Creek Ward Chapel with a viewing from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment at Grouse Creek Cemetery.
