Ora Mecham Johnson Winn

March 10, 1905 — February 18, 2002

Logan-Ora Mecham Johnson Winn died February 18, 2002 at the Sunshine Terrace in Logan, Utah from causes incident to age. Ora was born March 10, 1905 in Riverdale, Idaho. She was the third child in a family of thirteen children. Her parents were Melinda Mae Adams and Leo Mecham. On December 6, 1922 she married Heber K. Johnson of Brigham City, Utah in Ogden, Utah. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple. They were married three months short of fifty years when he died of cancer in 1971. In 1972, she married Heber E. Winn of Eagle, Idaho in the Ogden Temple. They had fourteen beautiful years together and he died in 1986. Mrs. Winn moved to Logan in 1987. For the past 6 years, she lived with her daughter Beverly and John Wheeler until mid-January of 2002. Ora was an active member of the LDS Church having served as a teacher in Primary and Sunday school, and served as a Relief Society President. Ora was a visiting teacher for over sixty years. She is a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers since 1936. At the time of her death, she belonged to the Thomas X. Smith Camp of Logan, Utah. Ora enjoyed both Temple and genealogy work. She had a very positive attitude and was a great supporter of missionaries. Throughout her life, Ora has listened and responded to the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Ora is survived by three daughters, Beatrice and Jay deceased M. Anderson, Ogden, Utah; Lila Mae and Neal deceased Crowther, Malad, Idaho; and Beverly and John L. Wheeler, Logan, Utah. One step-daughter Radia and Cecil Thomas, Boise, Idaho; 12 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 39 step great ?grandchildren. One sister, Clara Rainsdon, Salt Lake City, Utah and four brothers, Clifford Adria Mecham, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Delbert Glenna Mecham, Mesquite, Nevada ; Burnise Valora Mecham, Preston, Idaho and Donald Jeanine Mecham, Gilbert, Arizona. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters, 2 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and 1 great-great granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 21 at 11:30 a.m. in the Nelson Funeral Home Chapel, 162 East 400 North, Logan, with Bishop John L. Wheeler conducting. A viewing will be held at the Nelson Funeral Home Wednesday, February 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until services. Graveside services will be at the Brigham City Cemetery on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
