Odell Shumway Thompson Riverside, UT: Odell Shumway Thompson, 93, died April 11, 2002, at his home in Riverside. He was born January 18, 1909, in Garland, UT, the son of James Joseph and Mary Lucetta Shumway Thompson. He married Edna Mae Ward, December 29, 1937, in the Logan LDS Temple. She died March 4, 2002. He attended schools in Garland where he held class and student body offices and excelled in all sports. He graduated from Utah State Agricultural College in Logan, UT. Before marrying he lived in Washington D.C. where he began his thirty plus year career in Civil Service. He and Edna lived on the West Coast, Hawaii and Guam for the first 22 years of marriage. They lived in Napa, CA from 1960 to 1998. The last four years have been spent in Riverside. He was a life long, active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings. He is survived by his children, James Ward Thompson, Ogden; Mary Edna Thompson, Riverside; David Vaughn Colleen Thompson, Sacramento, CA; Coralie Jane Robert Niklewicz, Rohnert Park, CA; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters, Blanche Revere Hansen, Layton; Melba Merrill Wassom, Bountiful; Laura Dean Kunz, Bountiful; Lola Ruth Bill Anderson, Thatcher. He was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers, Delos and Blaine; two sisters, Agnes Leonard Bishop and Beth Russell Boss. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20, 2002, 11:00 a.m. at the Belmont 2nd Ward Chapel, 16925 North 5200 West, Riverside. Friends may call Saturday ONLY from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Church. Arrangements under the direction of Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, Tremonton. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery.
