Norma W. Griffiths was the first of six children born to Royden E. and Bertie Pack Weight. She spent her childhood in Salt Lake City where she was active in music and spent much of her time helping at home. When she graduated from High School she had the opportunity to try out for the 1947 Centennial Opera. She became the youngest member and was part of a quartet and also a member of the dance group. Upon her return she was invited to join the Tabernacle Choir but turned that down when she met and married Jesse J. Griffiths. That union was blessed with 6 children. They lived in Salt Lake while Jesse finished school and then moved to Schenectady, New York. They were there for 9 months and were then transferred to Richland, Washington. Shortly after, the Griffiths boys decided to buy another farm west of Blackfoot, Idaho. They spent 47 years there. Norma raised her family and helped on the farm when her help was needed. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints filling callings in Primary, MIA, Relief Society, Ward Organist and Choir director of both Adult and Children's choirs. Norma and Jesse were privileged to serve a mission in Kentucky where they added one more daughter to the family. In 1999, they left the farm and moved to Logan, Utah where they enjoyed being closer to many musical and other activities.
Norma fulfilled two life long dreams when she had the opportunity to go to Switzerland and see where her Grandmother had been born and then in 2012 when she was invited to practice with the Tabernacle Choir. Family, music, and the gospel were Norma's life and she was a valiant daughter. She passed quietly in her sleep on June 17, 2013 in Logan, Utah. Norma is survived by her children: Kristi Heiner Gaylon, Gareth Joanne, Mark Gay, Lee Lisa, Laura Zisette Charles, Paul Melissa, and her "adopted" daughter Lanae Arnold Robert, one brother Neil Weight, and a sister Anne Williams.
