Nolan S Bingham

June 4, 1934 — March 1, 2004

SMITHFIELD? Nolan S Bingham, 69, of Smithfield, peacefully slipped away at is home of 43 years, Monday, March 1, 2004. Surrounded by his loving family, he fought a valiant and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Nolan was born June 4, 1934 in Amalga, Utah to Lawrence P. and Alta Blanche Cantwell Bingham. Growing up on the family farm in Amalga, his love of nature grew with him. He developed a special ability to find beauty in all things and loved to share that beauty with those around him. He was never so rushed by life that he didn't have time to stop and admire a sunset, take a picture of a hawk or a group of pelicans. Nolan loved the solitude of the outdoors and the excitement of hunting and catching big fish. From his parents, he inherited a great love for music. He sang in the Cache Val Aires and enjoyed playing the harmonica. In 1958 he married his long time sweetheart Carol Balls, of Hyde Park, in the Logan LDS Temple and moved into their lifelong home in Smithfield. He graduated from North Cache High and then from Salt Lake Barber College. He had his own barber shop in Smithfield for several years. He retired from Cache Valley Dairy. He loved to tinker and build things. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an active member of the LDS Church, and member of the High Priest Group. He loved his calling as a Home Teacher, and often enjoyed extra visits with his families. He is survived by his wife, Carol and four children: Bradley and Michelle Bingham, of Green Bay, WI; Stephen and Melanee Bingham, of Hyrum; Nancy Ellen and Kirk Gray, of Tremonton; and Lori and Brad Greer, of Smithfield. As well as his seven grandchildren April, Kathryn, Tyler, Brian, Braden, Taylee and Ethan. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Leon and Morris. Funeral Services will be held at noon on Friday, March 5, 2004, at the Smithfield 2nd Ward Chapel, 175 South 100 West, with Bishop Steve Jenson conducting. Friends and family may call from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2004, at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 S. Main Street, Smithfield, and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the church prior to services. Interment will be in Smithfield City Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thanks to the many High Priests, Elders and Priests from the Smithfield 14th Ward who came to our home so lovingly each day and offered compassionate service. Without their help we could never have kept Nolan at home. We would like Sunshine Terrace Adult Day Care to know how much we appreciated their care and help, IHC Hospice for all the dedicated nurses and aides who assisted Nolan, and our special CNA, Eric Digerness, for his dedicated care and service to the entire family.
