Salt Lake ? Neva Norine Anderson Pettit, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2002 at her home. She was born October 29, 1921 in Providence, Utah, to John Thomas and Eva Spring Anderson. Neva was raised in Providence, attending and graduating from the local schools. After graduating from high school, she began working in Salt Lake City. She met Seth Pettit and was married on January 19, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They moved to southern California and lived there for a short time, returning to Salt Lake to raise their family of five sons and two daughters. Through the years, she has been active in civic duties participating on the Board of Directors for the Mt. Olympus Training Center, on the Advisory Board for the Work Activity Center for the Handicapped and active in the Hartvigsen school PTA. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and has served in various callings. She has been a visiting teacher, a cub scout leader and primary teacher. The gospel and her testimony were very precious to her. She is survived by her husband of sixty one years, Seth and seven children: Kathleen Jae Walker, Glendora, California; Joseph Ann Pettit, Sandy; Dean Peggy Pettit, South Jordan; David Sharae Pettit, Sandy; Lee Wendy Pettit, Salt Lake City; Julie Michael Chatterton, Smithfield; and Douglas Pettit, Salt Lake City. Her posterity also includes 34 grandchildlren and 15 great grandchildren. She is survived by two sisters: Ruth Myers, and Mary Jean Low and three brothers: Clifford, Nathan and Jerry Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Earl and Harley Anderson and two sisters: Carma Weston and Marcia Anderson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2002 at the Winder 8th Ward Chapel, 1361 East 40th South, Salt Lake City under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake and on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.
