She was the seventh child born to Andrew Heggie Griffiths and Adline Godfrey on a snowy winter day February 5, 1931at Clarkston, Utah. She grew up on a farm and enjoyed the outdoors developing a love of horses at an early age. She learned to ride horses and enjoyed her pet cats and dogs. She worked to keep up the yard. She was also helpful to her mother by ironing and keeping the car clean inside and out, but she liked to vacuum the house best of all. She was a happy, carefree, active girl and continued that way throughout her life. Her favorite activity was to walk and she did so many times a day. She attended Clarkston Elementary School. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended all her church meetings with her family. Her mother taught her the art of embroidering and she created many lovely pillow cases and sets of dishtowels. She learned to braid rugs, and she made attractive hooked rugs and beaded Christmas bells for all of her siblings.
VaLoice was 37 years old when her parents died. For the next 30 years she lived with her siblings, rotating monthly among their homes.
She loved her many nieces and nephews and had many good memories of fun times with them. She went on numerous trips with family over the years. A nephew and his wife Jay and Nicole became her main caregivers and took her into their home before a permanent home was chosen for her. The Provo Care Center became her home for her remaining years. The family wants to give a special thank-you to the staff at the center who cared for her, and especially to Lyn Plant manager of the facility, Ida Martinez her nurse and Amy Patten her case worker. She is survived by her three older brothers, Weldon Ivean, Asael Pauline and De Marr Marilyn Griffiths, and her four sisters, Theo Buttars, Sadie Earl Hatch, Phyllis Griffin, and Veda Hadley, and many nieces and nephews.
