Ned Roy Jackson returned to his Father in Heaven on December 15, 2016 at Autumn Care Living Center in Hyde Park, Utah. He was born June 3, 1920 to Victor Orin and Ada Rex Jackson. He was the sixth of twelve children. He was raised in Bear Creek and Belfry, Montana.
He met his sweetheart, Ruth Holman, at Utah State. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 23, 1946. He taught Ag in Gardnerville, NV where their three oldest children were born. They moved to Martinez, CA where he taught, and their youngest child was born. They moved to Oakdale, CA where he taught wood shop, electricity, math, and driver’s training.
After retiring he and Ruth served missions for the LDS church in Fiji, New Zealand, and Florida. In between missions, they moved to Logan to be closer to their family. Ned loved working in his workshop, building things for his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he served in many callings. He had a love for our Savior and serving others.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Holman Jackson; four children, Lynda (Eugene) Goodsell of McLean, VA; Sherilyn (Kenneth) Tibbitts of Fielding, UT; Terry (Jennifer) Jackson of East Garland, UT; and Camille (Steven) Amott of Smithfield, UT; sisters: Mary, Alice, Carroll, Hope, and Jean; 18 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren (with a few more on the way).
Ned was preceded in death by his parents, Victor & Ada Jackson; brothers: Rex, Clarence, Bill, Richard; sisters: Freda, Phyllis; and multiple great-grandchildren.
Ned’s family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Autumn Care Living Center and Access Home and Hospice for their compassion and excellent care of Ned, during his final months of life.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 11:00am at the Smithfield 24th Church house, 451 S 250 E, Smithfield, Utah. Friends may visit from 9:30- 10:30am, prior to services. Interment will be held at the Logan Cemetery.
