Nathan Gary Dunn

January 19, 1977 — September 13, 2009

Nathan Gary Dunn, our beloved grandson, son, brother, husband and father, left his mortal pain behind to enter his everlasting repose with his Father in Heaven September 13, 2009 at the age of 32.
Nathan was born in Murray, Utah on the 19th of January, 1977. He liked it so much in his mother?s womb that he refused to enter this world without the help of the doctors until two and a half weeks after his due date. Because of being so late, the delivery was hard, and he came out looking like he had fought Muhammed Ali, and lost. But he was a fighter, and was a strong baby. He grew quickly and throughout his life he exhibited those qualities in all that he did. He lived hard, competed hard, loved hard and played hard and, unfortunately, died hard.
He loved various sports, but his favorites were football and baseball at which he excelled. His history with baseball started with WBBA little league in Logan and continued in Hyrum. He was an All Star member of the South Cache WBBA World Series team and hit two home runs in that series. He was a member of the South Cache Pony All Star Team that won the State Tournament, and the Area Tournament, and was second place in the Region Tournament, losing the championship game to Walla Walla, Washington. His football career started at the same time. He played for two years on the South Cache team, but when it came time for high school, he decided to play for Logan High, from which he graduated in 1995. He was a varsity starter for Logan in both sports his junior and senior years. He also played one year of football for Dixie College. He played baseball for the Hyrum Hornets baseball team for five years, and after that he continued with softball. He picked up golfing, and became, in the short few years he played, a respectable player. He made his first Eagle this past summer which his father was able to witness. There were high-fives and hugs all around.
Nathan was also an accomplished outdoorsman. He loved to fish and hunt. In January of 2007, while on a vacation to Cabo San Lucas with his family and parents was able to catch a nearly 9 foot marlin, a replica of which is mounted above his parent?s fireplace. He harvested his first buck deer at the age of 15, and since then, harvested many deer and pronghorn, including a trophy pronghorn, as well as ducks and pheasants. Some may remember him performing on stage at the Eccles Theater and the Heritage Theater where he had starring and supporting roles. One of his favorites was the part of Pharaoh in Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He sang with Chauntaires and Crimson Colony at LHS and was a member of the Allstate Chorus.
Nathan is survived by his grandparents, Les and Marion Dunn and Beth Clawson, his parents, Gary and Jana Dunn, his sisters, Brittany husband Heeth Perkins and Cassandra, his brother Paul, Nathan?s lovely wife Serena, and their two beautiful children, Lyndon 2 ½ and Naiya 8 weeks and various uncles and cousins. In lieu of flowers, it is asked that donations be made for Nathan Dunn?s children to Zion?s Bank.
The funeral service will be Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hyrum Stake Center, 595 So. 200 E., Hyrum. Friends and family may call Friday, September 18, 2009 at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 No., Logan from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center.
