Nancy Yvonne Siddoway Smith, 88 of Smithfield, Utah passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on December 17, 2023. What a wonderful reunion in heaven as she is now once again in the arms of her sweetheart Chad. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
Nancy was born on June 28, 1935 to George Alden Siddoway and Della Clark in Oakley, Utah. She was the second of four children. The family moved to Lake Town, Utah when Nancy was a small child and it was here that she grew up. Making many memories with her siblings and friends. Her favorites were ice skating on Bear Lake when it froze over and hiking in the beautiful mountains around their home. Nancy completed her primary education in the Rich County School District in Lake Town and graduated from Rich High School in 1953.
After graduation from High School, Nancy moved to Logan, Utah to attend Utah State University. It was here she met the love of her life, a handsome young marine named Chad Smith. The couple were married on November 4, 1955 in the Logan LDS temple. They spent the first year of their marriage in a small basement apartment until they moved into the cute corner house on 200 South in Smithfield. This is where they would spend 66 of their 67 years together, raising their family and making many happy memories.
Chad and Nancy were blessed with four beautiful daughters Cindy (Joel) Teuscher, Trina (LaMar, deceased) Balls, Suzette (Ryan) Rock, and Sandi (Willy) Hansen; along with 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Nancy was a wonderful example of hard work and homemaker. She held positions at Logan Regional Hospital in the maternity ward, Summit Elementary Cafeteria, and as a retail clerk at JC Penny, but her favorite role was wife, mother and grandmother. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints enjoying her many callings, especially Young Women’s camp director.
Nancy learned to sew at an early age and used that talent throughout her life. Her hands were always busy sewing or quilting until she passed. Her quilts will be cherished for many years, and we are unsure who will mend our torn pants, alter our prom dresses and make our custom halloween costumes and do it as well as she did. She spent many hours with Chad raising their vegetable gardens and camping with their friends. Chad and Nancy were able to take many trips together, her favorite being their adventure to Alaska, that she booked without Chad knowing because he would tell her no, but she knew they would both enjoy it and they loved every minute.
Nancy enjoyed spending time with her grandkids making cookies, following them to their sporting events, recitals, or other performances; she rarely missed anything.
Nancy was welcomed across the veil by her sweetheart Chad, parents and in-laws, her siblings and a sister and brother-in-law;Val Siddoway (Karen), DeeAnn Davis (Frank), Craig Siddoway, son-in-law Lamar Balls, grandson Gabriel Hansen and several other family members.
A viewing will be held Thursday December 28, 2023, from 10-11am at the Smithfield Nelson Funeral Home. Followed by a graveside service 11:30 a.m. held at the Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at the Smithfield Cemetery.
Not a day will go by that we won’t think about you or need to share something with you,
Love you always.
