Nancy Ann Lister Hard, a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cirrhosis of the liver. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren as she left this world on August 23rd. Nancy was put on hospice care on the 22nd (her favorite number) at the distinguished age of 70. She was born on April 27th, 1954, in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she began a life filled with love, dedication, and resilience.
Born to David John Lister Sr. and Ingebrett Carlson, and blessed with brothers Westley Landon Officer, David John Lister, and Dennis Michael Lister, Nancy was raised with strong values and a deep sense of family. She also cherished her stepmother, Aimee Myrtle Brown, who played a significant role in her upbringing. These early influences shaped Nancy into the nurturing and compassionate woman that many were fortunate to know.
Nancy was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), and her faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She found great comfort and strength in her beliefs, which influenced the way she lived and loved.
Nancy embodied unconditional love and self-sacrifice, always putting her children, family, and even her beloved cat, Silver Girl, first. She was the matriarch of her family, a consistent source of strength and stability. Her energy was the purest form of love, radiating warmth and care to all who knew her. All we needed to do was hear her laugh, and we knew everything was going to be okay, no matter what was happening in our lives.
Nancy was a woman of many talents and passions. She loved singing in the church choir, where her voice was a cherished part of every service. Her artistic side shone through in her drawing and decorating, especially during the holidays, when she transformed her home into a festive wonderland. Nancy also had a fondness for collecting Precious Moments and Charlie Brown figurines. Her favorite character from Charlie Brown was Woodstock, and she especially loved the way he flew upside down, a detail that always brought a smile to her face.
Nancy was the proud mother of ten children, each of whom she adored and devoted her life to. Her children, in order of birth, are Loralie Hard, Rebecca Ann Sommers, Shawn Michael Hard, Pamela Kay Hard, David John Hard (Deceased), Marci Mae Allred (husband Brad), Scott Timothy Hard (wife Siri Andros), Eric Tyler Hard, Teresa Marie Hard Brewer (husband Nathan), and Ashley Michelle Hard (wife Raeanna Starr). She was also a devoted grandmother to her nine grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and joy in her life. When Nancy became a widow, she began honoring the widow's might.
Nancy’s heart ached for almost 18 years after the passing of her beloved son, David John Hard. Now, after so long, she has finally reunited with him, and they are together again in heaven.
Her family was her greatest joy, and she worked tirelessly to ensure that her children and grandchildren were raised in a loving and supportive environment. Her legacy lives on in them, as well as in the countless lives she touched throughout her journey.
Nancy’s life was marked by her strength in the face of adversity, her unwavering commitment to her family, and her kind-hearted nature. She will be remembered for her warm smile, her generous spirit, and the love she shared with everyone around her.
She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, extended family, her church community, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will be cherished, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her.
She never left, she is still here with us and always will be. As fast as we think of her, she is there. Her love is pure and full and she won't leave.
A mother's love transcends time and space, leaving behind cherished memories that guide us and a warmth that forever fills our hearts. Nancy Hard lives on. She will be remembered and cherished through all their lives.
