Myrl D. Perry

Deweyville - Myrl D. Perry, M. D. our dear husband, father, grandfather, and coach, passed away peacefully, Monday, October 13, 2003, at home after a valiant battle with MDS. He was born November 5, 1922 in Deweyville, Utah, a son of Marion G. and Annie Pearl Rawson Perry. He graduated from Bear River High School in 1940. He married Margaret Hess on October 2, 1942 in the Logan LDS Temple for time and all eternity. They had just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. M. D. attended Weber State University for a short time before being drafted into the US Army. He served in World War II for three years, one year being spent in the Army of Occupation in Japan. After being honorably discharged, he attended Utah State University and graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education. In 1952, he graduated from USU with a Master of Science in Physical Education. His first teaching job was Principal at Plymouth School, where he taught for three years. He later became a teacher and coach at Bear River Junior High where he devoted his whole life to teaching and coaching. Next to his family, it was his greatest love. M. D. was elected Vice President of Physical Education for the State of Utah and held that office for two years. He was also chosen to represent Utah as the outstanding Physical Educator in 1984 and went to Atlanta, Georgia to compete for the national title. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he held many callings, serving as a counselor in the Deweyville Ward Bishopric, Sunday School President and teacher. M. D. served as the Deweyville Town Clerk for 31 years. He lived a life of service to his family, his church, and his country. He is survived by his wife Margaret, children Mary Vaughan Morgan, San Antonio, TX, Michael D. Mary Perry, Cedar Rapids, IA, Marcia Randy Burbank, Hyrum, Utah, and Melanie Weber and fiancée Dee Alexander, Layton, Utah, 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were two grandchildren, Robert Scott Morgan, and Marcie Jo Burbank. Also proceeding him in death were his brothers, Ellis, Alton, Clarence, Norman and one sister Virginia Petersen. M. D. loved his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them participate in all their various activities. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 17, 2003 in the Deweyville Ward Chapel at 12:00 noon. Friends and family may call at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home located at 111 North 100 East, Tremonton on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Friday morning at the church from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Deweyville Cemetery. Special thanks to the Rocky Mt. Hospice for all their care and concern over the last few weeks.
