Mozell Garrett Hess

June 26, 1922 — September 7, 2004

Mozell Garrett Hess, 82, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and disciple, died September 7, 2004, at the home of her daughter. Mozell was born in Garland, Utah to Moses and Barbara Williamson Garrett on June 26, 1922. Mozell is survived by two daughters, Linda Lee Harris of Ogden, and Delerie David Moore of Visalia, CA and two sons, Don Glade Janet of Provo and Paul C. Linda of Bountiful, as well as 12 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don 1991 and her sister Helen and brothers, Boyd, Mark and Harvey Lee, one son-in-law, L. Ballard Harris.
Mozell was a long-time resident of Garland and Tremonton, Utah where she graduated from Bear River High School and worked at the Garland Elementary as a cook and later at Utah-Idaho Sugar and the local phone company as a secretary. During her time in the Tremonton Sixth Ward, she served as Relief Society President, was an extraction worker for 14 years and was a faithful temple worker. She was a talented seamstress and cook and her hand-made quilts were a prized possession. Her peach jam and brown pan cake were world famous. Many ate at her table where they received nourishment to both body and spirit. Also known to her family as "Golda" and "Granny". She had a great sense of humor and was always able to use her influence and experience to teach without preaching. She was a faithful wife and mother, and at all times an example of a "believer". Her life was a full one in all respects and all accounts were "settled in full" at her passing. Her family and grandchildren were her greatest possessions. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 13, 2004 at the Tremonton Sixth Ward Chapel located at 660 North 300 East, Tremonton at 12:00 noon. Friends may call at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home located at 111 North 100 East on Sunday, September 12, 2004 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday at the Sixth Ward Relief Society Room from 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the LDS Missionary Fund or Hospice are encouraged.
