Mona Palmer Macriss

January 13, 1929 — November 10, 2006

Mona Palmer Macriss, 77, passed away unexpectedly Friday, November 10, 2006. Mona left an impact on everyone she met. She graciously and willingly served others with love and care. In return, she was loved by all and will be truly missed. She loved to read and was a great storyteller. She especially lived for her family. Her grandchildren were very special to her, and she loved each one of them dearly. She and her twin sister were born January 13, 1929 in Raymond, Alberta, Canada to Leslie Larson Palmer & Florelle Love Palmer. Mona loved being a twin and having that special connection to her sister. She grew up on the Southern Alberta prairie at the foot of the Canadian Rockies. The daughter of Raymond?s postmaster, Mona was raised in a loving household and lived a free and happy childhood in the small agricultural community. Upon graduation from high school, she attended the University of Alberta and taught first grade before serving an LDS mission to the Central States. After her mission, Mona continued teaching elementary school throughout Alberta while pursuing two of her life?s passions- curling and travel. Her teaching career eventually took her back to Edmonton, where she met her future husband, Robert A. Macriss. After their marriage, they moved to Chicago, Illinois. They spent thirty plus years in Chicago, raising their family in Deerfield, a suburb of Chicago. They retired to Logan in the late 1990?s. Robert passed away October 2, 1999. Mona was active in the PTA and the LDS Church. She enjoyed serving in the Primary and Relief Society. She is survived by her children: Robert Suzie Macriss; William Holly Macriss; grandchildren: Sarah, Nicholas, John Robert, and Samantha. She is also survived by her sisters: twin, Donna Roy Spackman; and Geraldine Gary Ursenbach; and two brothers: LaMonte Jean Palmer; and Harrison ?Bud? Jessie Palmer. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan.. Friends and family may call Tuesday evening, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Providence City Cemetery.
