Miles Adams Peterson, 85, passed away on October 22, 2009 at Logan Regional Hospital. Miles was born on January 3, 1924 to Miles Larson and Venice Adams Peterson in Logan, Utah. After graduating from Logan High School in 1942, he joined the US Army Air Corps and served through 1945, where he achieved the rank of 2nd Lt. Miles earned his pilot's wings and flew B-17s, B-25s, and B-29s. Upon returning from proudly serving his country, he attended Utah State Agricultural College. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree and teacher's certificate. He taught school for one year, deciding teachers were born not made. He was an office manager for Olaf Nelson Construction. Miles then pursued a career in accounting working at Thiokol and retiring from Hill Air Force Base. Miles married Betty Lou Beutler on June 7, 1946 in the Logan Temple. They made their home in Logan, where they raised their four children: Conley Renae Peterson, Gary Debbie Peterson, Luann Glen Baker, and Carol Jensen. Miles was a member of the Cache County Search and Rescue for 25 years, serving as Commander for 2 years. As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he filled callings such as scout leader, home teacher, and ward clerk for 13 years in the Hillcrest First Ward. Miles and Betty served an LDS Service Mission in 1997 through 1998 at LDS Employment Services. Miles volunteered as an usher for the Ellen Eccles Theater for 16 years. He served for 10 years at the Cache County Visitor's Bureau and also was a host at the Logan LDS Tabernacle. Miles and Betty loved traveling and camping. They attended the annual All-4-Fun Jeep Event for many, many years in Colorado. Both were original members of the Alpine Tunnel Historical Association. They volunteered yearly with Forest Service PIT Project for 13 summers. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Stuart Wasson, and 3 great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Betty, four children and their spouses, 17 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, October 26, 2009 at the Hillcrest 1st Ward Chapel, 875 North 1500 East. Friends may call Sunday evening, October 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan and Monday morning at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. They build air planes and chased girls his favorite game is baseball and bowling. If he could a animal he would be a lion. When he was younger his favorite food was hamburger. Now it is steak. He becom a pilot. And his favorite subject is History. His most important thing he learned was to be a accountent. He has lived in 8 houses. He did not get what he wanted to be, he wanted to be rich.
