Melvin LeRon Udy

Melvin LeRon Udy, 87, of Fielding, died Saturday, October 1, 2005 at his home of a prolonged illness.
He was born in Plymouth, Utah a son of Melvin A. and Phoebe L. Nish Udy. He was married to Virginia Coombs October 18, 1940 in Billings, Montana. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on April 23, 1964. She preceded him in death, June 14, 1979.
He was a graduate of Bear River High School and served in the Army during WWII, from 1945 to 1946. He was a supervisor at Hill Air Force Base and retired in 1971. He was able to return to farming in Box Elder County after his retirement.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was fond of the out-of-doors. He was an active member of the LDS church and had served in several callings throughout his lifetime, including bishopric counselor, ward choir member and ordained temple worker. Surviving are his wife, Velma Evans Udy of Logan; one daughter, Mrs. Marvin L. Hansen Karen of Mendon, Utah; six grandchildren: Kelly Martneau Lohnie, Round Hill, VA; Jennifer DeReus Jeremy, Manassas, VA; Matthew L. Hansen Lisa, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; Suzanne Petersen, Fairfax, VA; Andrea Boyd Christopher, North Logan, UT and David L. Hansen, Idaho Falls, ID; six great grandchildren: Jacob Martineau, Emma Rose Martineau, Noah Martineau, Moses Hansen, Wyatt Hansen and Lauren Petersen.
Step relatives include: David Evans Gloria, Malad, ID; Dennis Evans Sherrie, Malad, ID; six step-grandchildren and 17 step-great grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother and two sisters: John Udy, Ogden; Elma Farber, North Las Vegas, NV; Joyce Bost, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Verl and Carl.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2005 at the Belmont Ward Chapel, Fielding, UT. Friends may call from 11:30-1:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Plymouth Cemetery.
