Maxine B. Corbridge, our sweetest Mother and Grandma passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loving family on December 10, 2023. Maxine was born February 4, 1938 to Winnie May Barnes Olney Holland and Mack Olney of Smithfield. Maxine graduated from North Cache High School in Richmond, Utah. Maxine was quickly smitten by the love of her life, Kendall Corbridge; they were married on October 6, 1955.
Together they raised four children, and their legacy continued to grow being blessed with eleven grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Kendall and Maxine started their life together in Olympia, WA, where they had their first child, Keven. After a year there they returned to Cache Valley, but quickly moved on to Salt Lake City so Kendall could attend Salt Lake Barber College. In Salt Lake they had 2 more children, Doug and Terri. After graduation from barber college, and spending 5 years in Salt Lake, they once again returned to Cache Valley, bought a home in
Smithfield, set down their roots and opened Casey’s Barber Shop. They completed their family as they welcomed their fourth child, Cathy.
While her kids were in school, Maxine worked at Sky View High School, Moore Business Forms, and Mountain Farms. She made lifelong friendships with the people that she worked with. Her co-workers would always say that Maxine was the kindest person they had ever met. After retirement Maxine and Kendall enjoyed their time together while traveling through the states.
Maxine and Kendall were married for a blissful 66 years and lived a real life love story. They were each other's best friend, biggest supporter, and confidant. They showered their grandchildren, and great grandchildren with love and affection, attending every concert, game, and performance that they could. Maxine had impeccable dance skills and loved to do the jitterbug and waltz. Her dance skills also shined as she and Kendall spent many years Square Dancing together. Maxine was a nurturer and perfectionist. She would tend to the flowers in her garden as carefully and tenderly as she did her friends and family.
Later in life, Kendall and Maxine purchased a home in Washington City, Utah where they spent many winters. They cherished the time they spent there visiting with friends, both old and new, hiking in the red hills, watching Jazz games, and playing cards.
Maxine was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She put her whole heart into carefully preparing lessons and activities and cherished her time with her ward family.
Maxine is survived by her four children, Keven (Tracey, deceased) Corbridge, Douglas (Dorothy) Corbridge, Terri (Odell) Speth, and Cathy (Mark) Campbell, eleven grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and sister, Linda (Ace, deceased) Johnson. Maxine is preceded in death by her loving husband Kendall Corbridge, her brother Robert (Bob) Olney, her grandson Jake Campbell, and daughter-in-law Tracey Corbridge.
We’d like to thank CNS Hospice and Riley Clark, her nurse, for their care of mom. Thank you to Autumn Care staff, past and present for their loving support of mom. A special thanks to Toni Shumway for her kindness and goodness during her stay at Autumn Care. We are grateful for mom’s sweet neighbors for how much they meant to her, and how good they were to her.
We will all miss Maxine dearly. We know that Kendall has been waiting patiently to wrap his arms around her and give her a big kiss. We are comforted knowing that the two of them are together once again wrapped in each other’s arms.
