Mavis Corbridge Deppe Bodrero

June 26, 1915 — January 5, 2005

Mavis Corbridge Deppe Bodrero, born June 26, 1915 in Smithfield, passed away January 5, 2005 in Providence. She joyfully reunited with her husband, Earl Moses Bodrero, who preceded her in death twenty-eight years ago. Her 89 years were lived in happiness with an active mind and body until recently. Mavis grew up under the guidance of a loving mother and father, H. LaVina Corbridge and William Robinson Deppe. She lovingly played with a sister and brother, and with her sister enjoyed music and dancing lessons. Mavis attended school in Smithfield through Junior High School and graduated from North Cache High School in 1933, as well as from the LDS Seminary. Late in life, she graduated with both 3 and 4 year certificates from the Logan LDS Institute. June 26 was significant to Mavis, besides being her birthday, she was also engaged and married on this date. Mavis and Earl built themselves a new home in Logan, using brick made in her father?s Smithfield brickyard, moving in June 19, 1940. They were blessed with two children, Odell and Sherlene, whom she doted on all through life. Her grandchildren meant the world to her and she delighted in teasing them. Mavis and Earl enjoyed keeping an immaculate home and yard. She helped with the farming, but her greatest joys were her children and home. Mavis filled her hours with reading, crocheting afghans, bike riding and walking until 80 years old. She found solace and fulfillment playing the piano and organ. Mavis was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Earl, and by a sister and spouse, Bernice Deppe and Carl C. Clawson of Smithfield. Mavis is survived by her brother and spouse, Hazen and Beverly Deppe of Taylorsville, Utah; a son and spouse, Odell E. and Pat Bodrero of Mendon, Utah; and a daughter and spouse, Sherlene Joan and Howard L. Adams. Mavis was blessed with 9 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 11 step-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the Providence Assisted Living staff and Rocky Mountain Hospice for their loving care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2005 at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan. Friends and family may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Mendon City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com . In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be in Mavis? name to a tsunami relief or a humanitarian aid fund of their choice.
