Maurine Sparks Curtis Brown Maurine Sparks Curtis Brown, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and friend passed away Wednesday Aug 13, 2008 at Logan Regional Hospital following complications related to age. She was born Aug 20, 1924, in Clarkston Utah she was the thirteenth child of David and Ella Anna Sparks. She married Jack Walter Curtis Oct 14, 1943 and later divorced.
She married her sweetheart Edward Lyman Brown on June 21, 1946. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on Aug 28, 1979. She enjoyed going fishing with Ed, and was always right beside him when they were in the garden making their yard beautiful or in the kitchen cooking a meal. She had obtained many skills over the years and has worked at various positions: Waitress at Ken's drive inn, Bluebird Café, Glauser's restaurant, and Zanavoo Lodge. She was a Hostess at Sirloin Stockade, where she served five years; and in realty sales at Western Realty.
Maurine's outgoing personality and love of people has been an asset in the varied positions she has held. She has a great compassion and love for others. She has served in various positions in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She has been a primary teacher, Relief society teacher, and a stake missionary where she served with her husband in the Logan 4th ward. She loved to go to the temple and relishes the spirit that is felt in serving the Lord. Two years following Ed's death, she found her best friend and became engaged to Bud Gilbert Anderson on March 19, 1999. They spent many memorable hours together and enjoyed one another's company for 14 years. She is survived by her two daughters Janette Curtis Brown Bywater Nyle of Mendon, and Tamra Funk of Farmington, 18 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, son, a grandson and a great great grandson. Maurine's family wishes to thank Dr. Brian Carlson, Denise Riehle, Wing 1 caregivers and staff at the Sunshine Terrace and Logan Regional Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, Aug 18, 2008 in the Nelson Funeral Home chapel, 162 East 400 North, Logan, with Bishop David Simmons of the Logan 4th ward conducting. Friends may call Monday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
