Maurine England Erickson

January 19, 1914 — June 10, 2007

Maurine Erickson, formerly of 15 South 4th West, Logan, Utah, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2007 from complications associated with old age. For the past four years, she was a resident at the Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on 14th North in Logan. She was born in Logan, January 19, 1914 to William Charles and Ada Peterson England. She married Glen Alfred Erickson, July 1, 1936 in the Logan LDS Temple. Maurine attended Logan City schools and three years of college before she married. After her two children, Glen William and Cathryn, were in school and with the help of her father, William C. England, she returned to college. She graduated in 1953 with a BS degree in Elementary Education. She taught school for 22 years with the Cache County School District. From 1954 to 1963, she taught 3rd and 4th grades at Paradise Elementary. From 1963 to 1968, she taught theses same grades at Mendon Elementary. She ended her career teaching at the Lincoln School in Hyrum from 1968 to 1976. Maurine was active in the LDS church, living most of her life in the Logan First and Second wards. She worked in the primary and young women?s programs. She attended many camping trips with the young women. After the death of her husband Glen in 1979, she served an LDS mission in San Bernardino, California. She also served in the clothing department at the Logan LDS Temple. Maurine loved animals and she had a love for all people. She especially liked working with the youth. Before returning to college, she served for a time as dorm mother for the Kappa Delta Sorority. She also opened up her home as a boarding house to many USU students, mostly foreign exchange students from the Middle East. Her daughter, Cathryn Carter, passed away February 2, 2004. Her son, Glen William Erickson, living in Preston, Idaho, nine grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild survive her. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan. There will be a viewing beginning at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
