Mary Gaddie Linford

January 26, 1914 — February 19, 2006

Mary Gaddie Linford passed away Sunday February 19th, 2006 at the age of 92. She was born January 26th, 1914 in Sugar City, Idaho to James Malcolm Gaddie and Mary Elizabeth Hunter Gaddie. She moved to Garland, Utah when she was 13 years old because her father was the superintendent of the U & I Sugar Factory in Garland. She graduated from Bear River High School, attended Weber College for two years and graduated from Utah State University in 1966 with a degree in Library Science and with a certificate in Secondary Education in English. She worked at the Intermountain Indian School in Brigham City for ten years. She then took a position as Librarian and City Recorder for Garland City and held that position until she was 77 years of age. She married her high school sweetheart Cyril A. Linford in March of 1935 and they were sealed in the Logan Temple. They made their home in Los Angeles, California for six years working for Sally?s Candy Company, and then returned home to Garland to run the family farm. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the gospel was very important to her. She was a long time member of the Garland First ward and later of the Garland Third ward. She was very active in all of the auxiliaries of the church both at the ward and stake levels. Throughout her early life she was active in community organizations such as the Civic Club, the Ladies? Lions, the Bridge Club and the Dance Club. She resided in Salt Lake City for the last year and a half. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Cyril, daughter Julie Elizabeth, granddaughter Holly Sue Linford Bonavita; siblings Winona Slim Mulliner, J. Hunter Erma Gaddie, Malcolm S. Venna Gaddie, Mark Gaddie, and Naoma Blaine Bishop. She is survived by: children Susan L. Q Michael Croft SLC, James C. Linford Marianne Lake Jackson, Tx, Sally L. Steve Kramer, Roy, Ut, Mary Lee L. Dean Anderson Tremonton; sister Lola Jean G. Murdock, Jacksonville Fl; Sister-in-law Erma Gaddie Cedar City; grandchildren David Becky, Brett Cindi, and Matt Croft; Mike Catherine, Richard Gaye Linford and Jim Bonavita Holly; Jennifer A. Tad Judd, Lisa A. Todd Transtrum, Geri A. Jantaen Reynolds, Mike Alisa, Scott Melonie and Julie Kramer; and 21 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at the Garland Tabernacle on Thursday the 23rd at 11:00 AM preceded by a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 AM with Interment in the Garland Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Wednesday the 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home located at 111 N 100 E Tremonton.
