Mary Eileen Clark Buttars, 98, passed away Monday, February 16, 2004 at her home in Clarkston surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 4, 1905 to James Michael and Annie Larson Clark at the family ranch north of Clarkston. Eileen lived her entire life in the Clarkston area and attended the local schools. She graduated from North Cache High and attended Brigham Young University in Logan. She married Wallace Buttars June 11, 1926. Together they worked the family farm and became the proud parents of one daughter, Laurena. After Wallace passed away June 20, 1957, she managed her farm and looked after her brothers. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Over the years, she has served in teaching positions in the Sunday School, Primary and Relief Society. She was the Dance Director for Clarkston Ward and Smithfield Stake for over twelve years. Eileen is survived by her daughter, Laurena Henderson; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wallace; her son-in-law, Dell F. Henderson; one sister: Anna Thompson; brothers: Paul, John, Vernor, Harold, Vivian twin and one grandson: Jimmy Lynn. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, February 20, 2004 at the Clarkston LDS First Ward, 25 East 100 South. Friends and family may call Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield, and Friday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church in Clarkston prior to services.
