Marvin Leander Stenquist, 87, left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at the Emeritus Estates in Ogden, Utah. He was born in Tremonton, Utah on April 24, 1918 to Eric A. and Marie Elizabeth Sedall Stenquist. He married Merle Conger of Tremonton. He later united with Letha Wood Peterson of Fielding. Marvin and Letha were currently living at Emeritus.
He lived and farmed his entire life in Tremonton with the exception of five years during which time he served his country in the Pacific in WWII. His farming was his pride, joy and the love of his life along with his wife and children. He attended and graduated from Bear River High School. Other than his farming, he enjoyed reunions with army buddies and their wives, dancing with Letha and their friends, golfing with friends, sons and grandsons they could never beat him!, drives with his daughter, and visits at local restaurants the waitresses loved his smile and charm. He loved to go snowmobiling. He served in numerous church callings. He was a High Priest at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife; his children, Leah Peterson of Roy, Patsy Peterson Tremelling of North Ogden, Darrell Pam Allen Stenquist of Eugene, OR, Ronald Peggy M. Stenquist of Kuna, ID, Robert Shirley Peterson of West Valley City, Delores Lori Stenquist Joyce of Hailey, ID, Rex Kay Peterson of Ogden, Bart Leslie M. Peterson of Sandy; his sisters, Erma Raymond Limberg of Murray, Doris Farnsworth of Fruit Heights, Selma Elmer Weidmeier of Big Fork, MT, Thelma Leon Miller of North Las Vegas, NV; 25 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kendall R. Stenquist; a brother, Leroy Stenquist; one grandchild, Amanda Stenquist.
The family wants to gratefully acknowledge and thank the staffs of Emeritus and Applegate Home Hospice for their loving care of our husband and father. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton 3rd Ward Church located at 9590 North 6800 West, Tremonton.
Friends and family may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home located at 111 North 100 East, Tremonton on Friday, July 1, 2005 and also from 10:00-10:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church prior to the services.
Interment will be at the Fielding Cemetery.
