Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Marjorie Smith Steed passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011, two weeks before her 96th birthday. She was born September 27, 1915, in Holbrook, ID, to Willard Richards and Laura McIntosh Smith. On October 17, 1935, she married her soul mate and eternal companion, Joseph Samuel Steed, in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their home in Stone, Idaho, where she worked along side her husband on their ranch and raised two children. After retirement, they wintered for over 20 years in Yuma, AZ, and spent their summers in Stone. When her husband's health began to fail, they moved to Mesa to be closer to their daughter. Her husband passed away on March 28, 2002, and she remained in Mesa.
She has been an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in all of the auxiliaries on both the ward and stake level. She also enjoyed making quilts for her family and watching baseball games. She could be found often doing crossword puzzles and maintained a journal for most of her life. How she loved pink roses--pink anything really! Marge's greatest blessing in life came from being a wife, mother, and grandmother as she devoted her life to serving her family. She is survived by her daughters: Susan Rocz and Jolene Marvin Hudman. She is Granny to Craig Francia Ward, Lori Travis Bingham, Kristi Tim Schoenecker, Charlotte Jamie Jones, Jody Ben Ashley Wheatley and Richard Wheatley and great grandchildren Michael and Nicole Ward, Abby Bingham, Sarah Bistline, James Jones, Roberta, RJ and Joel Wheatley. She is also survived by the following brother and sisters: Imogene Merrill Durfee, Reed Valoy Smith and sister-in-law, Charlene Russ Gale as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and the following brothers and sister: Willard Mac Smith, Lamoyne Smith, Richard Smith and Verona Arbon.
