Tremonton, Utah. Our beautiful mother, grandmother and sister died Thursday, May 20, 2004 at her daughter's home in Brigham City, Utah.
Marjorie was born February 9, 1918 in Plymouth, Utah, the daughter of Eberhart and Laura Evans Zundel.
She married Reid L. Oyler in the Logan Temple May 14, 1940. She and Reid raised their family in Tremonton, Utah. Marj was instrumental in the Reid Oyler Construction Co. until the time of Reid's death in 1974. She later married G. Eugene Jorgensen, December 3, 1975. Marj and Gene were able to share the remainder of their happy lives together until Gene's passing in October 2002.
Marj was elected the first woman City Council Member of the City of Tremonton. Her love for the people of Tremonton and the Bear River Valley will remain in her heart forever.
She was a member of the Tremonton Civic and Literary Clubs. She had a great love for reading and had a collection of many books. She took pride in her home and her beautiful yard.
She held various church positions. She was Ward and Stake Primary President, Young Women's Counselor, Relief Society President and Visiting Teacher. Marj will always be remembered for her obedience and her strong testimony of Jesus Christ.
In her later years, she handled her blindness and other health problems with dignity. She was an example to all of those around her.
She was able to be independent and live in her own home up to the last week of her life, thanks to her dear friends and neighbors. Thank you, Ruth Steed for many years of love and service to our dear Mom. You were a bright spot in her life!
Marj is survived by three daughters and one son: Julie Anne R. Dean Udy, Brigham City, Utah, Jeri Darrel Newman, Salt Lake City, Utah, John Reid Shauna Oyler, Newport Beach, California, Janine Ike Swan, Kaysville, Utah, 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, two brothers: Olof E. Zundel, Neil W. Zundel and one sister Helen Z. Wallen.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Anine Zundel, one brother, Dr. Ben F. Zundel, and one granddaughter Alisha Anne Udy.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at 12:00 noon at the Tremonton 1st Ward Chapel located at 166 North Tremont Street, Tremonton. Family and friends may call Monday, May 24, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home located at 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and also Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral at the church.
Interment at the Brigham City Cemetery.
