Tremonton, UT ? Marjorie Austin Brockman, 93, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the Bear River Care Center. She was born June 23, 1914 to Clarence and Elsie Vera Brough Austin in Garland. She married Otto Magnus Brockman August 3, 1937 in Brigham City. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple July 26, 1950. Otto died May 12, 2000. Marge graduated from Bear River High School and Garland LDS Seminary. As an active community leader she received the 1973 Tremonton Women?s Civic Club Woman of the Year, was historian and chairman of the committee?s civic and public affairs, fine arts, youth education, membership and community improvement; officer of Northern District of Federated Women?s Club; Tremonton Fine Arts committee; member of the Simida Club; historian of the Women?s Legislative council; worked on floats for various county parades; chairman of the little princess contest; summer activities at North Park; avid fund raiser for park improvements; helped organize museum for Golden Spike Centennial, later converted to Senior Citizens Center; volunteered for various fund raising drives; active in PTA; avid golfer; and Pink Lady volunteer for 20 years.
She was an active member of the LDS church serving in many callings.
She is survived by her daughters: JoAnn John David-deceased Rich, Tremonton, Joyce Dale Aldon-deceased Johnson, Tremonton and Eileen Brent Paul Johnson, South Weber; her brother, George Lee Austin, Brigham City; 11 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers: Harold Keith, Vernon and James, and one sister Elizabeth Halling.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 27, 2007 11:00 a.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton. Family and friends may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral.
Interment at Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Bear River Valley Care Center for their loving care of Mother for the past 15 years.
