Marilyn Low Nielsen

May 16, 1934 — March 11, 2018

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Marilyn Low Nielsen passed away on
March 11, 2018.
Marilyn was born to Clinton and Roma Low and raised in Smithfield, Utah. She graduated from
North Cache High School where she was very involved in school activities. It was here she fell
in love with Dale Nielsen, a dashing underclassman. They were married in 1954 in the Salt Lake
Temple. This love affair is one for the eternities. Three children were born to this union. Lezlie
Zollinger (Richard), Huntsville, UT, Terri Cartwright (Dennis), Kemmerer, WY, and Cameron
Nielsen (Amy, deceased), Smithfield, UT.
Marilyn worked for Bob and Ed Budge at the Smithfield Clinic for 40 years as the office
manager but was also known to be a fill-in lab and x-ray tech, nurse, pharmacist and right-hand
help to Doctor’s Bob and Ed. Following her work, at the clinic, she was employed by Cache
County in the survey/building department.
Marilyn was an active member of the Church of Latter-Day Saints where she loved serving as
Relief Society and Young Women’s President, choir director and in many other capacities.
She was a superb cook and loved to cook and bake for her family, especially her dad. She loved
her hometown of Smithfield and devoted many years to organizing the Health Days celebration.
She was proud of her Low and Pilkington heritage and the role they played in the early days of
Smithfield and passed along many stories to her posterity.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Dale, their 3 children, 12 grandchildren, 11
great-grandchildren, and her brothers, Rodney and Randy Low. She is preceded in death by her
parents, a brother Ted and a daughter-in-law Amy.
